Arrival / check in
Conrad hotels are truly luxurious, and the main reception and lobby area was no exception.  Using the app, I was able to check in to my room the night before which meant all the paperwork was pre-printed and ready to be signed.  I had booked into a “Deluxe Resort” room but was upgraded to a Conrad Suite at check in which was unexpected as this was more than a one category jump.  I was a Hilton Honors Gold member which may have helped, although this is not an advertised benefit of Gold tier status.

The room
This was by the far the best hotel I stayed in during my trip to Bali.  The Conrad Suites were the very definition of luxury, with a separate living area, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and balcony area – each generously proportioned with plenty of space to enjoy each part of the room.  I was on my own for this part of the trip, but could comfortably have shared with others.  The bathroom was stocked with a selection of high-end amenities – guests even have a choice of which brand of toiletries they would like; I chose the Aromatherapy Associates products for the first day and then the Shanghai Tang products the next day – both were excellent.

Services and facilities
The hotel is built across a huge complex linking together the different buildings and services.  The grounds are peaceful and the only sounds that can heard when walking around the gardens is the trickling water from the many fountains and water features around the hotel.  There is a main pool for all guests, and a separate pool for those staying in a Conrad Suite; this separate area is for adults only and is generally much quieter than the main pool area.

I chose to have lunch and dinner at the hotel, and both meals were excellent.  There is an extensive range of food available, from light snacks in the lobby to more ‘complete’ meals in one of the many restaurants.  There was a BBQ night available by the pool area but I chose the a la carte option instead; the chicken curry was delicious.

I was unable to use the spa in the hotel, but further details about this can be found on the hotel website.

The Conrad Bali is the perfect hotel if you are looking for a luxurious stay in Bali.  Although my stay was in one of the Conrad Suites, the facilities available across the rest of the hotel would make this an enjoyable stay regardless of which room type you choose to book.
